This page contains information about the book Fundamentals of Enzyme Kinetics 4th edition) by Athel Cornish-Bowden, published by Wiley-Blackwell (2012). Pages related to the 2nd (1995) and 3rd (2004) editions, including reviews and lists of typographical errors, are also still available. There is no intention to update any of these pages in the future.
The figures from the book are now available (lightly modified) at the publisher’s site. The files can be found by following the link entitled
Supplementary Material, which will activate download of a
150 megabyte ZIP file. They may be freely used for teaching and other non-commercial purposes as long as proper credit is given.
Color has been added when appropriate, and additional notes are included. There are also a few figures that are not in the book
(mainly variations on the original ones).
At present the figures are available either as Keynote files or as HTML pages (PowerPoint is to be added later). If you have Keynote (2008 or later) installed in your computer the Keynote files are better, but the HTML pages are adequate.
Chapter 1 is available as a PDF file from the same site, as is part of the Index.

From an organizational perspective, the book is a treat. It is extremely readable... It is in the understandings provided by the written explanations with support from clear figures that the book shines... This book is a gem. The writing is clear and concise. It is filled with historical information, hints, common errors of analysis...
This is an excellent introduction to enzyme kinetics. The author's style is clear and lucid, explanations are repeated several times within the text, all the most relevant equations are included, and there are plenty of illustrations. Good questions are presented after each chapter; solution are also included. This edition also contains the short biographies of contributing scientists. Great work.
Having studied enzyme kinetics as both a chemical engineer and subsequently as a molecular biologist/systems biologist, I have taken MANY different university courses on the subject. This book (reasonably) concisely covers all the fundamental topics, clearly but with enough depth. I highly recommend this text. The exercises with answers are also enlightening.
Most of the errors so far noted are trivial or obvious, and most have been corrected in the second printing (2014). All are listed on another page. If you notice any errors that are not listed, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
